ACID was thrown in the face of a middle-aged man as he sat alone in his car in Ealing.

The chemical attack badly burned his face and neck and, after being rushed to Ealing Hospital, he was transferred to the burns unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The 51-year-old was sitting in his parked car in Windsor Road, Ealing, on Thursday, August 20, when the attack took place at 1.15pm.

As well as police and ambulance services, the fire brigade was called to the road and the area sealed off while the highly-dangerous chemical was examined.

Police have charged a woman with assault, causing grevious bodily harm, and are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or anyone who has information, to contact DS Yates, DC Reddington or PC Rooney on 020 8246 2008 quoting reference 2524578/09.
