A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital with head injuries after a crash involving a bus.

Her car ploughed into a lamppost and a bollard in The Avenue, Cranford, yesterday (Monday, August 26).

Police believe she was trying to avoid a bus at the mini roundabout by Cranford High Street when the crash happened at about 10.30am

The bus turned right and her red Honda Civic then turned left and collided with the lamppost, a 'keep left' bollard and the kerb of the opposite carriageway before coming to a halt, according to police.

The 25-year-old driver was taken to an east London hospital with head injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, in which no one else is believed to have been injured.

Any witnesses are asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit's witness line on 020 8842 1817.
