A HORRIFIED witness called police after seeing one man beat another with a metal bar.

The resident of Doghurst Drive, Sipson - who wishes to remain anonymous - said he saw a man hiding in a bush before a van pulled up and another man leapt out at around 7.30pm on Friday.

The witness said: "He came out of the bushes, and the other man

chased him into Chestnut Crescent. He fled in a panic.

"The other guy then started beating him with a metal cosh. I called police and went upstairs, from where I saw him being beaten up."

Two other men inside the van fled on foot after two police cars arrived.

But by that time the two men in the fight, both in their early 20s, had beaten each other with such force

they both required medical attention.

The witness said: "I found the cosh in my garden. I just wanted rid of it. I couldn't believe they (police) didn't come and pick it up straight away. I didn't want it in my garden and I didn't want to be arrested with it if I tried to take it to police myself. What if a child had come and picked it up?"

The weapon was collected at 8.50pm the following day after the resident called Heathrow police.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Bourne said: "There were no suspects at the scene and no allegation made to the police by the two males.

"There was no other independent evidence. If any further information comes to light then police will review the case."
