Willesden resident Sanket Khuntale has placed in the top 10 in a national photography competition with the focus of love.

Launched by relationship website eHarmony.co.uk, the second annual Love Captured photography contest asked the nation to submit photographs demonstrating what the word love means to them.

Sanket’s entry fought off competition from more than 1,000 entries to feature in the top 10.

Captioned The Warmth, the photograph, which was highly praised for both its use of colour and its creative subject matter, shows a huddle of chicks standing below their mother hen’s feathers.

Comprised of psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos, editor of Practical Photography Ben Hawkins and managing director of eHarmony.co.uk Romain Bertrand, the panel judged the images using three main criteria: creativity, quality and charm.

Speaking about his photograph placing so highly in the competition, Sanket said: “It’s an unusual subject but it still means love to me.

“I found the sight of the tiny chicks resting under their mother’s wings to gain warmth delightful, and apparently so did the judges.

“I’m really honoured to be among the top 10.”

Romain Bertrand said: “We’re very proud to continue the competition for a second year and make a tradition of asking the nation to show us what love means to them.

“We may be experts in bringing our users the perfect match, but it’s great that many of these photos go beyond romance, showing the beauty of love in all its forms.”
