A WIDOW who was married for 54 years is distraught after some of the last photographs of her husband were stolen.

Sheila Kaye, 72, of Whitehall Road, Uxbridge, lost the pictures when her bag was stolen on Monday in WH Smith in High Street, Uxbridge. It also contained £100 and her Freedom Pass.

Mrs Kaye's husband, Danny, died of prostate cancer in June of last year, and she carried the photos with her to show to friends and family. Both she and her husband worked as social workers in London.

Mrs Kaye said: "There was one of Danny when he was about 30, when he had curly hair and looked very sweet, and three older ones which were taken just before he passed away.

"I wouldn't care about the other things if I could just get the pictures of him back, it wouldn't mean anything to anyone else. I used to show the photos to everybody, I was so proud of him and loved him very much, those pictures were all I had left of my husband. I just can't take anything more happening to me."

She added that she is old and partially sighted and cannot understand why someone would pick on such an easy target.

Mrs Kaye said: "I can't under-stand why these people can't get a job like everyone else."
