Doctors and staff at hospitals in Harrow and Wembley are facing a white coat shortage.

Staff at the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust are at risk due to the lack of the famous white jackets, according to papers released at a board meeting last week.

The Trust, which oversees Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals, uses the jackets to protect staff working in laboratories.

It is believed the lack of coats is due to a glitch in the laundry system within the hospitals, meaning they were not being washed in time.

The Trust has since changed its laundry system in order to make it more efficent, as well as investigating the costs being charged by alternative jacket suppliers.
