GREAT news for Hillingdon Hospital as it announces a £12m development to improve A&E and acute services at the Pield Heath Road site.

But one person's redevelopment joy is another's headache - take Hayes Town's Civic Hall car park, which although badly in need of a spruce up will be badly missed by motorists as the work takes place, according to some, causing parking chaos.

And there is a big question mark over the future of the Harefield Medi Parc, which could bring fresh hope to opponents of the development plans.

At the Gazette we love animal antics, and your stories of lost pets, clever pets and poorly pets are always welcome. This week, we had the happy task of talking to Damien Redfern and his daughter Betty, aged five, as they welcomed back Sonny the dog, stolen from outside Budgens in Eastcote. Find out how they got him back in the Gazette - and how Suki, the cat with no meow, was reunited with her owners, Ellen and Daniel Camacho of Ruislip. And please keep an eye out for Roxy the German Shepherd dog, who slipped the lead and was last spotted in Harefield. Her owners make a poigant plea on our letters pages.

But the best animal antics this week are those of an unnamed swan at Ruislip Lido that really did need rescuing. Read the amazing tale in our Ruislip edition.

Elsewhere, golden girl Natasha Baker was up at Buckingham Palace to meet The Queen and collect her MBE, and another Queen - The Queens Head in Uxbridge - is getting a spruce up.

It was a right Royal week all round, to be honest - Prince Andrew dropped in to Hayes company TMD Technologies, and we have pictures in the newspaper and video on this website.

Tributes have been paid to a former Bishopshalt School pupil who died in Northern Ireland, and the death of Richard Briers on Monday prompted fond memories of The Good Life and those famous houses, supposedly  in 'Surbiton' but we know better.

We catch up on the Hillingdon Music Service two years after a shake-up that many feared would be the death of it, meet the young chefs chopping and whisking their way to a prize, and 'book in' with the Harefield Junior School teachers whose pupils are their biggest fans, for good reason.

And the highs and lows of sport could not be better illustrated than by the England netball call up for one borough woman - and the broken leg nightmare for Hayes and Yeading player Chris Owens. Get well soon, Chris.
