IN A week touched by tragedy, the facts of the sad deaths of Heena, Jasmine and Prisha Solanki have yet to emerge.

Understandably many of the shocked mothers meeting at the gates of the Whiteheath schools wished to speak to the Gazette on condition of anonymity but we have their tributes and those of friends and neighbours who are still adding to the pile of floral tributes left at the family home in Midcroft.

A sad week also for the family of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and as she is laid to rest today (Wednesday), we look back to her sole visit to the borough - a top secret one to St Margaret's Church in Uxbridge.

Elsewhere on our website you will see the role two Queen's Colour Squadron members are playing right now in the funeral beaming live across the nation.

Elsewhere, two bikers are 'doing a Ewan McGregor' and heading off around the world by motorcycle for charity. Retired Cowley firefighter Paul Phillips is delighted to 'finally be getting round to it'!

Hayes's air quality - already not great - will get worse if Boris Johnson allows an asphalt and concrete recycling centre to be built, and that is according to the company hoping to build it. Full story in the Hayes and Harlington Gazette.

And according to some, you can never find a policeman when you want one, at least not in the north of the borough and particularly Harefield, which, it has been confirmed, is to lose its police station.

The life of another politician will be celebrated next week, when the funeral of former mayor 'Eddie' Hales takes place. You can find the obituary of this great man of the borough on page four.

there's a new look and a lock-in at The Chimes shopping centre, a retro bag for your shopping in Northwood Hills and a host of skydivers and London Marathon runners to support if you can spare a few quid!

And if you really can spare a few quid, maybe you already have a copy of William Pierce's book, Your Lottery Ticket, packed with tips about how to increase your chance of landing the Euromillions (tell us if you do).

There is practical advice on how to claim a disabled facilities grant, a nifty lifesaver for your fridge from the Lions and the first in our series about the Hillingdon Samaritans in this, its 40th year.

And you might have noticed the weather has improved: it's that peculiar time of year when the football and the cricket seasons overlap - we have got it all, as Middlesex start their first Lord's fixture of the year and Hayes and Yeading FC keep scrapping - almost literally - to stay in the division.
