A TEENAGER has paid tribute to her ‘bubbly and happy friend’ who died four days after a collision with a car.

Sakina Ahmed, 17, from Northolt, suffered serious head injuries in the incident on Friday, September 14, and died four days later.

Now Harissa Sheikh, a fellow student at St Dominic’s Sixth Form College, Harrow on the Hill, has spoken fondly of her friend.

Harissa, 17, of Rayners Lane, said: “Sakina was the type of person who could light up a room with her smile. I know it sounds like a cliché, but that’s just how she was.

“I remember meeting her on the very first day of high school, when she was just a shy girl with an infectious sense of humour. As the years went on, her personality grew and she made friends very quickly because of her bubbly and happy personality.

“I couldn’t name one person she disliked or who disliked her. She was such a genuine person who loved music and boy bands just as much as any other teenage girl.

“What happened to her is beyond tragic and it is so cruel that her life was cut so short.

“But the one thing we can hold on to is the fact not one moment of her life was wasted, as she cherished and appreciated every second. Now that she’s gone, all we can do is appreciate the lives we have and live every moment just as she did, smiling.

“No words can describe the shock we are in knowing someone I used to walk through school corridors with, arm in arm, is no longer with us.”

Sakina’s second cousin, Karim Habib, happened to walk past the immediate aftermath of the fatal incident at the junction of Wood End Lane and Petts Hill, Northolt. He did not recognise Sakina because she was surrounded by paramedics.

Mr Habib said: “Every time I pass that spot, I recall that day and it makes me very upset. She was a great cousin who will be missed by many, a sports lover and extremely respectful girl.

“I really feel sorry for this unexpected great loss. As no words can lessen the pain, all we can do now is to keep praying for her.”

More than 2,500 people have joined a Facebook group called Sakina Ahmed – A Tribute to the One Loved and Cherished by All. Many have written long tributes to the teenager.

Sakina’s funeral ceremony took place with 1,500 mourners on Thursday last week at the Husaini Islamic Centre, Stanmore, followed by burial at North Watford Cemetery in Watford.

The police investigation into the collision continues.
