A female cyclist who collided with a lorry in West Ealing last week died in hospital on Thursday evening (October 19), Metropolitan Police confirmed.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries to her legs following the incident in The Broadway, West Ealing, last week.

The busy junction, near West Ealing railway station, was closed as emergency services responded to the incident.

At 1.35pm last Thursday (October 12), the 51-year-old woman was airlifted to an east London hospital.

The woman, who has not been named, died on Thursday at 11.45pm.

The woman's next of kin have been informed and there will be a post mortem examination.

The lorry was stopped at the scene and the driver is assisting police.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Cheryl Frost, of the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This incident took place in a busy area at a heavy footfall time of day.

"I am confident that a number of people must have seen what happened. I urge anyone who has information to contact police without delay."
