A SEVEN year-old boy from West Drayton was joined in hospital by Chelsea and England footballer Joe Cole this morning (Monday).
Luke Phair, who lives on North Road, has Cystic Fibrosis, and is a keen football fan, so was overjoyed when the footballer popped in and invited him for a kickabout.
He is a Liverpool fan, but is hoping to try out for the Chelsea under eights' team in the near future, and appeared today on the GMTV sofa as well as being featured on the BBC.
Luke has to visit the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea every year for a full health check-up including lung function tests and a physiotherapy review to keep him as well as possible.
The life threatening disease causes the lungs and digestive system to become clogged with thick mucus which results in infections, and brings difficulty digesting food.
Joe Cole is a patron of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and said: "It was great to meet Luke and his family, and the doctors and nurses who look after him and keep him well. He wants to be a footballer when he grows up which is good because exercise help people with CF stay fit and healthy. He's got a great attitude to life so I'm sure he will achieve his dreams."
