A YOUNG footballer has admitted killing a Sunday league player in a post-match brawl.

Darren Forwood, 21, of Frays Avenue, West Drayton, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Friday to the manslaughter of 43-year-old Stephen Ritchie.

The fight took place on November 30 at Little Harlington playing fields in Sipson Lane. Mr Ritchie was pronounced dead from head injuries shortly after 1pm.

The father-of-three was on the winning side as his team, Old Greenfordians, beat Kingshill Town 4-3 in the Hayes and District Sunday Football League Division One.

Mr Ritchie's daughter sobbed in court as Forwood admitted his guilt. He was remanded in custody and is to be sentenced on July 3.

A second man, Brandon Thompson, 20, of Widmore Road, Hillingdon, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and is to stand trial at the Old Bailey on August 10.
