Detectives investigating the death of a Wembley resident found stabbed in his flat believe he was murdered.

Dilip Unadkat, 44, was discovered on November 27, following phone calls from worried members of his family who had not seen him for a number off weeks.

It is believed Mr Unadkat, who lived alone, could have been lying dead in the first floor flat, in Alexandra Court, Empire Way, for a number of days.

Police originally treated the death as suspicious but now believe that Mr Unadkat was murdered.

Detectives are now appealing for information from the public to help catch the killer.

Detective Inspector Lee Presland, who is heading the investigation, said: "It is still unclear what events took place prior to Dilip's death. Dilip had been seen purchasing groceries at the Arena Mini Mart at around 11am on Tuesday, November 25.

"However there are no further confirmed sightings of him. We are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us on 020 8358 0200 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A post mortem examination, held at Northwick Park Hospital Mortuary, gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the chest.
