TWO talented singers will be battling it out over the social media to bag a spot in the final for a talent competition.

Laura Williams from Harrow and Cleo Stewart from Dollis Hill are two ambitious singers who have made it through to the final 10 of Wembley’s London Designer Outlet singing competition, called Music Talent Search.

Both have been selected by judges to rely on local support and the public to vote for them using social media site Twitter.

Laura was born and bred in the area and has been interested in music since she was eight years old.

She enjoys songwriting as well as function work and has recently become a full-time musician so that she can pursue her career in music.

The 29-year-old said: “I think it’s brilliant that local talent are getting the chance to showcase themselves and be recognised.

“Playing at the Wembley Outlet was such a fun opportunity and fantastic that unsigned musicians are being supported.

“I’m hoping to make it to the next stage and potentially create some new fans.”

TALENT: Cleo Stewart from Dollis Hill has made it into the final 10 of a singing talent show in Wembley.

Cleo, of Chapter Road, in Dollis Hill, is a singer, songwriter, poet, dancer, actress and musician.

She started singing when she was eight years old and is currently studying for a degree in creative and professional writing.

The 22-year-old has trained at various performing arts schools, starred as the lead in many musicals and productions and has recently been on tour with US soul sensations Melba Moore and Melissa Morgan, as well as the UK’s renowned Loose Ends.

She said: “I feel extremely proud to have been shortlisted in such an amazing competition.

“Having grown up in Wembley throughout my childhood and teen years, I take great pleasure in representing myself as well as Wembley. “Hopefully I can inspire others to also take part in such thrilling opportunities.

“I am definitely in it to win it.”

The two girls won a place in the final after performing live on February 22 and 23 at the London Designer Outlet in Engineers Way, Wembley.

They were critiqued on a number of areas including tone, technique, rhythm, musicianship and the all-important ‘star quality’ by the panel of judges including Kiss FM DJ Neev.

DJ Neev said: “We have been overwhelmed with the level of talent and variety of music genres from the entries for the Music Talent Search contest.

“We can’t wait to hear the public’s reaction from this weekend’s busking performances and who’s made it through to the final showdown on Saturday, April 5.

“Good luck to all the shortlisted musicians.”

The public can vote for their favourite finalist by using the hashtag #musictalentsearch and ‘at-ing’ the shopping mall’s account @londonoutlet on Twitter.

All of the votes from the public will be calculated and the four musicians with the most number of votes will perform at a final The X Factor-style showdown in front of the panel of judges at the London Designer Outlet on Saturday, April 5.

The overall winner of Music Talent Search will be awarded £1,000 and the first ever exclusive official busking slot outside Wembley Arena in the Wembley Park area for 2014, where they can showcase their musical talents to over four million event goers, stars and their entourages.
