ABOUT 100 people pulled on their wellies for the annual Michael Sobell Hospice Woodland Wander around Moor Park Golf Course, Rickmansworth, Bishop’s Wood, and the Grand Union Canal.

Walkers aged between seven and 89 years old, some from as far afield as Liverpool and Cornwall, joined in the stroll, which organisers estimate raised about £8,500 for the hospice, based at Mount Vernon Hospital from entry fees and sponsorship.

It was an opportunity for relatives of people who have benefited from the care provided at the hospice, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, to meet each other and share their stories.

“The walk was a great community event,” said Helen Elliott, chief executive of the hospice.

“Most people who came were either walking for loved ones who had passed away at Michael Sobell Hospice or had some connection with us, which gave everyone a common cause.”

Walkers could choose either a three-mile or seven-mile route.
