Three of the 'big six' energy providers - Npower, SSE, and British Gas - have announced plans to raise gas and electricity bills by between 8% and 10%.

This has prompted former Prime Minister Sir John Major to call for a windfall tax on their profits, and Labour leader Ed Miliband to repeat his calls for the Government to impose a freeze on energy bills.

But the Coalition maintains the best option for consumers is to switch providers in order to get a better deal, so this week we're asking whether this is a viable option for you.
