A survey by Keep Britain Tidy shows that the volume of litter in Hounslow has falled by 15% since the borough council pledged to get tough on the issue.
Levels of detritus, like fallen leaves reduced from 23.03 per cent and there was also a sharp drop in the amount of weeds, stains and fly-posting observed by inspectors. Only graffiti levels increased, marginally.
Hounslow Council deputy leader Colin Ellar, said: "This is good news and, although we still have some way to go, it shows that we are making Hounslow a cleaner borough."
Despite the reduction, litter levels are still well above the council's 10 per cent target. Do you feel progress is being made?
