The UK's three-month summer heatwave begins this week, boasting hotter temperatures than Hawaii.

We are all set for the hottest April 14 on record, with temperatures towering above some of the most desired holiday destinations.

Britain's temperatures on Tuesday (April 13) and Wednesday this week will tower above sunny Madrid, as well as Rome and Athens.

Experts are forecasting that the UK will even be hotter than Hawaii.

On Wednesday, London will reach 26C, while Madrid lingers at a gloomy 17.

Athens and Rome will also be moping behind at 20 and 19 respectively.

The good news is expected to continue too, with experts expecting that the weather will stay dry all week.

The highest temperature in the UK for Thursday (April 15) will not be beaten on Wednesday however, with the UK record reaching 26.1 at Cambridge Botanical Gardens back in 1934.

Met Office forecaster Helen Roberts said: "The hottest days of the year look very possible in the first days of the week ahead.

"It will become rather warm for many and perhaps very warm in places."

Forecaster Brian Gaze of The Weather Outlook said: "Very warm continental air could send temperatures soaring."

The three-month heatwave could see the UK beat its previous spring record for unprecedented heat, previously in 2011.
