THE road safety changes in Field End Road have been made by the council following a review of accident data in the road and concerns raised by local residents about speeding and the need for a new zebra crossing (An end to Field End dangers, Letters, October 15)

As is common with most new road safety schemes and changes to road layouts, the council commissioned an independent road safety audit by Transport for London which found no significant issues with the overall scheme, including the built-out kerbs.

The inspectors did, however, recom-mend changes to the original proposal for the pedestrian crossing, which means the council will be re-consulting with residents who will be affected before a new zebra crossing is built.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all drivers to drive safely and observe road conditions, including speed restrictions at all times.

If you have a road safety concern you would like us to hear, please email saferroads@hillingdon.gov.uk or through the council's customer contact centre on 01895 556 000.
