CLAUDIA JONES certainly deserves to be commemorated for her work on behalf of West Indians as editor of the West Indian Gazette and in connection with the Notting Hill Carnival, but not by an inaccurate plaque as pointed out by Tom Vague in his detailed letter.

Claudia was, of course, a Communist who had been deported from the United States because of her Communist activities.

I wonder if the Tory mayor of Kensington and Chelsea and the Tory deputy mayor of Westminster knew this when they unveiled the plaque.
