A team of hairdressers wore wacky wigs to help generate cash to cover the cost of an item of medical equipment.

Staff at HOB salon in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, raised more than £2,000 through a raffle and a bake sale which will help pay for a new respiratory unit at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in central London.

They were taking part in the hospital charity’s nationwide Bad Hair Day event on Friday in which participants can go loco with their locks by dyeing their hair purple or wearing silly wigs.

Salon manager Chloe Rumball said: “It was a great day, really fun. We all wore our wigs and had a visit from a little boy from Great Ormond Street Hospital.
“He drew the raffle and we would like to thank all of the local businesses for their donations.

“Everyone was really generous and it was a really fun.”

The salon raised £2,044.

Schools presenter for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Naomi Angel, lives in Kenton and is a client of HOB.

She said: “We are delighted that they have raised so much money for the charity which will go towards the new respiratory unit.

“They worked so hard to raise the money and were really enthusiastic.”
