A community has expressed its shock at a woman being raped in their quiet community.

The victim, a 30-year-old woman, was sexually assaulted at 12.30pm on Wednesday, and police are yet to make any arrests.

The incident happened on the path connecting Roxborough Park with Landsdowne Road in Harrow , close to The Grove Open Space, and the Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church and St Anselms Catholic Primary School, both in Roxborough Park.

A volunteer at the church, who wished not to be named, said: "Of course everyone is shocked.

"It is a safe area, we have had very few incidents over the years. But what can be done about it? More police on the streets? For them to have a more visible presence? I'm not sure.

"The news is filtering through, and obviously many people are upset."

Anyone with information on Wednesday's rape is requested to contact 020 7161 2834, the police non-emergency line on 101 quoting ref 2010260/14. Alternatively anyone can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
