IT CANNOT come as a huge surprise that Ealing Hospital has abandoned its bid for Foundation Trust status.

The hospital has had its share of setbacks over the last 12 months, exemplified by damning words from the Healthcare Commission.

But as health bosses consider their next move,it is vital that the Government gives the hospital the support it needs to provide satisfactory healthcare for Ealing.

Otherwise, the hospital could see a drain on staff and resources, and things could get much worse.

Good work, Shah

THE brave salon owner who stepped in to break up an unprovoked attack on a teenage girl should be commended for his actions.

It is never easy walking past an intimidating group of youths on the street, but Shah Ali's decision to protect the girl who was being attacked, kicked and punched outside his salon in Acton was an selfless and kind move.

Many people would have continued going about their every day lives, but Mr Ali overcame the intimidation and threats to protect someone's daughter.

It is a pleasant thought knowing there are people in the world who are willing to stand up to these thugs and defend the vulnerable victims.
