A MAN was shot in the shoulder and another was hit in the foot in what is believed to be a drive-by attack outside a nightclub and pub.

Neighbours heard three shots, fired outside the Black George pub in Uxbridge Road, West Ealing, which was closed at the time. Police say the victims had come out of CJ's club underneath the pub, which has an entrance next door, when the attack happened at about 4.50am on Sunday (4).

One bullet tore a chunk of plaster from the wall of the pub, while another embedded itself into the side of a Balti Magic restaurant.

Staff at the restaurant declined to comment but a barmaid at the Black George said: "On the CCTV you can see people standing outside having a cigarette, laughing and joking. You can't see the car or anything, just everyone running back down into the club."

A neighbour in Uxbridge Road, who asked not to be named, said: "I was sleeping in the back bedroom because I was getting up early and didn't want to wake my girlfriend. But she was woken up by three shots. She didn't want to look outside for fear of more shooting but heard a lot of shouting and revving of engines.

"I went out about 7am and the road was cordoned off by police. Forensic officers had left markers next to what looked like two bullet casings on the floor.

"One neighbour said she wants to move away, first with the riots and now this. But I've lived here for 20 odd years and seen all sorts.

"There is a lot of trouble round here at nights, sometimes it's difficult to sleep."

A resident in nearby Kirkfield Close, who declined to be named was also woken by the noise. She said: "I heard a lot of screaming, a high-pitched voice. It went on for about 10 to 15 minutes. But there is so much trouble around here at weekends I don't care anymore so I went back to sleep."

A 21-year-old was taken to Ealing Hospital to be treated for a large graze to his left shoulder. He was released shortly after.

A 25-year-old who was shot in the foot, left before police arrived. He went to a hospital in South London where he is in a stable condition.

Uxbridge Road was closed from Dane Road to the junction with Northfield Avenue until about 1pm. About 20 Police officers donned blue gloves and formed a line to search the road for clues, while forensic officers in white suits combed the area and took photos of evidence.

Operation Trident, which deals with gun crime among the black community, are investigating.

Police would not confirm whether it was a drive-by shooting but are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a dark Vauxhall Astra driving away at speed.

Anyone with information should call Trident on 020 8733 4774 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
