I KNEW Val Lamey politically since the early nineties, and I always found her pleasant and very dedicated to her work. For example, she pioneered the introduction of the green box recy-cling system in Hounslow.
We also shared another great love: football. However, our interest could not be more diverse, Val being a Red Devil fan and myself an ardent Bees fan since the early fifties.
Sadly, I will not be able to attend Val's funeral as I shall be at a memorial service for one of the founder members of the BFC Pensioners and Blind Scheme, namely Mary Farley.
However, I do hope to join Val's family and friends in celebrating her life.
Thank you, Val, for all the environmental work you did for Hounslow and mayyou rest in peace.
MELVYN COLLINS Former Deputy Mayor of Hounslow.
