Shoppers in Uxbridge have been poised with their Christmas puddings ahead of the rest of London, according to sales data.

At the beginning of December, sales data showed people in the borough who ordered grocery shopping online at Morrisons were four times more likely to have bought puds and mince pies than all other deliveries across the rest of north and west London.

They were also twice as likely to purchase their Christmas desserts early as deliveries in Warrington, which had the second biggest seasonal sweet tooth from the supermarket’s wider UK delivery area.

Trading director Jamie Winter said: “Everyone has a favourite dish or treat this time of year and it would seem that it’s definitely ‘afters’ that Uxbridge is after this year.

“We’re guessing that a lot of our customers aren’t waiting until December 25 before sampling our sweets - and why should they?”

In the run up to Christmas, Morrisons have been baking more than 17million mince pies, using 490 tonnes of mincemeat.

The data also showed the Christmas treat was the most popular festive dessert - selling 250% more units than any other.

The supermarket’s first online delivery service in London was rolled out in Ruislip in July .
