A Catholic school for children with special educational needs has been rated 'outstanding' by the Diocese of Westminster.
Pield Heath House School, in Pield Heath Road, Uxbridge, received the diocese's top rating in both categories inspected for – 'classroom religious education' and 'the Catholic life of the school'.
Inspectors, who visited the school in December 2014, said pupils' progress in religious literacy was 'generally as good as it could be'.
They added that there was a 'clear Catholic ethos' evident in all of the school's activities.
Executive principal sister Julie Rose said: 'We are delighted to have been judged 'outstanding' by the Diocese of Westminster, which is a testament to the hard work and commitment of both our staff and students.”
The school teaches 73 students aged between seven and 19 – not all Catholics – with moderate and severe learning difficulties.
Ofsted has rated it 'outstanding' in its last three inspections.
The diocese inspects all Roman Catholic schools within its area, focusing on religious development and education. The inspections are independent of the government.
