AN UXBRIDGE man has well and truly beaten the credit crunch by becoming one of Britain's first Asian billionaires.
As the second richest billionaire in the whole of the UK, Mike Jatania, 41, will be honoured tonight at Wembley Stadium which will host the annual Asian Business Awards.
Mr Jatania, from Uxbridge, has expanded his family's fortune to £1billion from £850million last year with a portfolio of personal care products.
His company, the Lornamead Group, have built a business by buying unwanted personal care brands from multi-national companies and rebranding them to huge success.
The company specialises is fragrances, hair care, oral care and cosmetic products, and employs over 400 members of staff across the globe, distributing products in over 50 countries.
Mr Jatania was born in Kampula, Uganda, to a Hindu family but was forced to leave in 1969 when dictator Idi Amin expelled all Asians from the country, settling in England.
Running the family business with his three brothers, Mr Jatania is expected to expand his property portfolio over the next 12 months.
