A COUNCILLOR accused of attempted theft has had his hearing postponed for up to 28 days, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed.David Gawn, of Lankers Drive, South Harrow, is accused of trying to steal £7,000 from a Dennis O’Brien on August 5, 2011 and appeared at Hendon Magistrates’ Court for the third time on Thursday.The 34-year-old Harrow on the Hill ward councillor denies the charge and is on unconditional bail. No new date has been set for the next hearing to commit the case to the crown court, a spokeswoman for the CPS said.The national Labour Party has suspended Mr Gawn from Harrow Council’s Labour Group until the matter is resolved.n Earlier versions of the story, based on information provided by Hendon Magistrates' Court, mistakenly suggested the case against Gawn had been dropped but the CPS have confirmed this is actually not the case.
