Having shed 10-and-a-half stone, Georgina Wallace fits into a single leg of her old size 28 trousers.

Now the 37-year-old is ready to share the secrets of her success at a new slimming group.

The marketing consultant from Hereford Road, Feltham, tipped the scales at 22 stone a few years ago, but is now a trim size 14.

It was a colleague’s insensitive remark, asking ‘which one’s the whale’ when shown a holiday snap of her in the pool with an inflatable, that provided the initial spur. But she credits Slimming World, which she joined three years ago, with helping her complete the remarkable transformation.

She has just finished training as a consultant for the weight-loss company and is due to launch her own group at a scout hall in Hanworth next Tuesday.

Georgina, who is married, said she had always been large but only really started piling on the pounds when tragedy struck her family.

Georgina Wallace, who slimmed down from a size 28 to a size 14, is now running her own Slimming World group.

She lost her mum, Barbara, to a sudden heart attack, in 2002, and she spent the next 18 months nursing her dad John at his home in Wigan before he died of bowel cancer in 2004.

“When I returned to work, my colleague's reaction to the holiday photo was exactly what I needed to get me started on tackling my weight issue, which I had buried my head in the sand about for so long,” she said.

“I also felt I owed it to my parents; they had both died so young and I knew that my own weight issues were pushing me to an early grave too.”

Georgina said she found the idea of joining a slimming group terrifying at first, but everyone was so supportive and she found the diet so easy to follow that she never looked back and is now determined to help others follow in her considerably lighter footsteps.

Georgina’s is not the only new Slimming World group in town. Toni Brennan, who lost four stone in just two years after joining the programme, recently started running weekly sessions at Hounslow Conservative Club.

The 51-year-old mother-of-one, who lives in Osterley, said she was inspired to lose weight after having a heart attack in December 2010.

Georgina’s Slimming World group meets at the scout hall in Nallhead Road, Hanworth, and Toni’s meets at Hounslow Conservative Club, in Gresham Road, Osterley. They both run every Tuesday, from 7.30pm, and cost £4.95 per session.
