A UNITY walk and vigil has been organised by Harrow Council to celebrate diversity and denounce intolerance in the face of far right protests.

It takes place on Sunday, October 11, between 3pm and 4pm and open to residents, visitors, and community and faith groups.

The event is show-of-strength in response to Stop Islamisation of Europe's failed September 11 demonstration and its planned December 13 follow-up.

The walk will begin outside Holy Trinity Church in High Street, Wealdstone, and will proceed past Harrow and Wealdstone Station in The Bridge, Wealdstone before finishing by the war memorial outside Harrow Civic Centre in Station Road, Harrow.

Harrow's Mayor, Councillor Eric Silver, will give a speech while there will also be poetry readings, a collective prayer, and music reflecting the theme of peace and unity.
