VICTORY is in sight for a mother who has spent four months battling to get her leaky roof fixed.

Nazia Khan moved into her home in Trimmer Walk, Brentford, last November, and says the second-floor ceiling began leaking within a month.

The 39-year-old cashier immediately complained to Hounslow Homes, the housing arm of the council, which owns the property.

Despite the drip growing steadily stronger, she says workmen sent by the organisation told her the problem could take up to two years to fix.

However, after being contacted by the Chronicle a Hounslow Homes spokes-woman said it intended carry out repairs 'as quickly as possible'.

"They [the repairs] cannot be undertaken until we have completed the legallyrequired consultation with affected leaseholders.

"Further temporary repairs will be undertaken in the interim," she added.

Ms Khan, who lives with her nine-year-old son in the two-bedroom maisonette, said she was disappointed it had taken so long to find even a temporary solution.

"Whenever it rains the water tends to fill at least a whole bucket and it's getting worse all the time," she told the Chronicle.

"The trickling sound of the water's stopping my son getting a decent night's sleep and the smell of rot is so bad.

"I keep reporting it but I've always been told the roof will take up to two years to fix, which I find unacceptable."
