FITNESS fans took to Twickenham's famous rugby ground for the fourth annual Turf's Up event.

Over 230 participants took part in a mass workout hosted by Virgin Active at the venue on Wednesday (September 11).

Braving heavy September showers the participants took part in a 60 minute circuit class, raising money for children’s charity Sparks.

Activities on offer were all those available at Virgin Active including V-Cycle, tug of war, ViPR, boxing, Zumba, rugby and football skills, and Puma HIIT Class. Each station was run by a Virgin Active Fitness Coach to help keep participants motivated.

General Manager at the Virgin Active Classic Health Club in Twickenham, Joy McLoughlin said: "We are really proud to have hosted Turf’s Up for the fourth year running, raising over £1,500 for Virgin Active’s charity Sparks.

"It was a great opportunity for members and non-members to take part in this extraordinary fitness challenge on the iconic Twickenham Stadium pitch."

The event is held traditionally just before the old pitch is dug up and replaced ahead of the new rugby season.
