Ant McPartlin and his mother were assaulted outside his local Chiswick pub after he confronted thugs filming them on their mobile phones.

The TV star and his 58-year-old mother, Christine, were enjoying a meal at the Old Station House pub on March 13 when a group of youths began filming them on their phones and making rude gestures through the window.

According to The Sun, the 38-year-old Britain's Got Talent host went outside to politely ask them to leave, but they grabbed his head and put him in a headlock.

His mother then rushed to his aid and was pushed to the ground.

A witness told the paper: "The youths were banging on the window, filming them and generally just being a pain - and they just wouldn't let it lie.

"Ant was completely reasonable and said, 'Leave it out, lads, I’m just having a quiet meal.'

"But it immediately turned really nasty and one of them jumped on him and put him in a head-lock."

Mr McPartlin and his TV partner, Declan Donnelly are often seen in the Old Station House pub enjoying a meal or a drink as they live nearby but are not normally bothered.

Police confirmed they had been called to reports of an assault in Chiswick, but no arrests were made.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called at 8.13pm to Spencer Road W4 to reports of an assault.

“Officers attended but no allegations were made and no one suffered any injuries.”

This is not the first time the star has been the victim of an unprovoked attack in Chiswick. In 2011, he was punched by a fellow drinker at the Barley Mow while watching Arsenal play.
