HUNDREDS of people braved the chilly weather to attend one of the main events in Pinner’s calendar.

Pinner Memorial Park, in West End Lane, hosted the annual Pinner Village Show on Saturday.

There was a dog show, a Punch and Judy stand, which was very popular with the children, music from local bands, plenty of stalls and restaurant vouchers up for grabs.

Pinner Rotary Club helped to organise the event with The Pinner Association. Rotarians have been selling raffle tickets since July last year to help raise funds for Kids Can Achieve, a charity based in Harrow Weald.

There were lots of rides and games for children, including teacups, a bouncy castle and a tug-of-war game, and the newly opened milkshake store, Shaketastic, was selling drinks from a big red bus.

Cynthia Wells, a member of The Pinner Association, said: “I think the show was a great success.

“The weather wasn’t promising but that didn’t deter people, and it didn’t rain. Families in particular filled the park, enjoying the scouts’ climbing wall, children’s rides, bouncy castles, tug-of-war and other entertainments.

“There seemed to be more stalls than ever this year, and if stallholders started to feel a little chilly, it was worth it just to take part in yet another community event, which makes Pinner such a great place to be.

“I think the Rotary Club deserves a big pat on the back. It really is quite a mammoth task to organise this event, and The Pinner Association was happy to play its part, providing the marquee for the band among other things.”
