A nightclub with a history of noise disturbance complaints is applying for an extension to its licencing hours.

The Tudor Rose , in The Green, Southall, will find out whether the application is successful at Ealing Council’s licensing committee meeting on Wednesday (March 19).

Twenty-five neighbours signed a petition against the changes, with residents saying that before police restricted opening hours in 2011, they were routinely woken in the early hours by people leaving the club.

They said they felt intimidated walking or driving nearby and that there is a long history of crime, often involving weapons , at the venue.

Ealing Council’s noise and nuisance team strongly objected to the extensions, saying they have been getting noise complaints dating back to 2004.

They said there would be even more potential for residents to be affected due to the large number of properties being built within the immediate area, including a new block of 149 apartments, expected to be fully occupied by the end of the year.

A statement made by police licensing officer Det Con Bob Boodhram highlighted 61 times when people came into the club after the last entry time during the weekend of February 8-9.

The proposal, by premises licence holder Ursula James, is for a variation to the premises licence which asks for the following – from Sunday to Saturday supply of alcohol between 10pm and 5.30am, the provision of plays from 10pm to 5.30am, live music, recorded music and performance of dance from 10pm to 6am, late night refreshment from 11pm to 5am, opening hours from 9am to 6.30am and to add one hour at the start of British Summer Time.

The current licence permits the sale of alcohol and provision of regulated entertainment from Sunday to Thursday between noon and 2am and Friday and Saturday until 2.30am, the provision of late night refreshment Sunday to Thursday from 11pm to 2am and Friday and Saturday until 2.30am.

The opening hours of the premises are currently from noon to 2.30am from Sunday to Thursday and until 3am on Friday and Saturday.

The licence holder was contacted but declined to comment.
