Organisers of everything from street parties to sports days have praised the training they received at Hounslow’s first ever event management course.

The two day Hounslow Heart of Events project saw people sign up to develop their skills, meet others like them and speak to industry professionals.

Led by Carillion Integrated Services, the borough’s parks management contractor, the free training was attended by a total of 10 event organisers representing local charities and community and voluntary groups.

Across the two days organisers learnt the essentials of event management and on the second day discovered how safety is a success story through industry professionals Sygma Safety and Tiger Tea.

Kirsten Lonsdale a community event organiser of Get Active Hounslow Super Saturday of Sport which took place on Turnham Green, Chiswick, for the first time last year, was one of the delegates.

She said: “The Hounslow Heart of Events training was both eye-opening and informative. “After just two days, I now feel better equipped to deal with all of the challenges that come with planning the Get Active Hounslow Super Saturday of Sport.

“The training was delivered in a fun way and best of all I got to meet some of the Hounslow Borough’s other inspiring people who are planning great community events.”

Following the success of the course, a second set of dates have been arranged on April 29 and May 9.

If you are a budding beginner or seasoned professional and would like to register to attend the training visit the website for further details on how to apply www.hounslow.info/heartofevents.

Places are limited and only one place will be allocated per community and voluntary group and you will be required to attend both days of the seminar.

The deadline to apply is Monday (21).
