HILLINGDON Council is going way over the top (Council steadfast on ice cream van ban, Gazette, March 17).

We all want our children to eat as healthily as possible, but this is another step towards taking away our freedom of choice.

What next? Telling the fish and chip shop opposite the school to close, banning the newsagent opposite the school from selling sweets?

A small ice lolly straight after school on a hot, sticky day was always a treat for my kids.

This ban is chipping away another part of our British tradition and heritage, and we will see the ice-cream vans disappear just like everything else has.

I feel sorry for kids now - they are missing out on so much.
