PROSPECTIVE parents are finding out about adoption in west London at an event at Westminster City Hall today (Thursday).
Every year, Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea councils need adopters to come forward to give children in council care a permanent home.
You can adopt if you are single, married, in a relationship, civil partnership or same-sex relationship and are 21 years and older.
Yvette and Paul adopted three-year-old Charles two years ago.
New mum Yvette said: “Our lives have been transformed in the most exciting way possible since Charles came to us over two years ago. He loves running around, chatting, train-sets, stories and exploring anything that can be explored.
"We had known from the outset of our relationship that we would want a family and we also knew that our ages were such that this would be most likely to occur through adoption. Although the adoption process sounded daunting, we were always very comfortable – indeed, excited – about the idea of adopting a child."
Three further information events are scheduled this year at: Hammersmith Town Hall on October 19 from 10am-noon, Westminster City Hall on November 7 from 6-8pm and at Kensington Town Hall on November 28 from 6-8pm.
