A town centre pub threatened with closure has had a last minute reprieve from Harrow Council.

Yates's, in Station Road, Harrow, will have to adhere to strict conditions imposed by the council's licencing panel today (Friday) if it is to remain trading.

Glasses and glass bottles will no longer be allowed in the pub, with revellers having to drink from plastic cups.

Councillors also ordered that CCTV equipment is installed and monitored, registered doormen are employed and fruit machines are fitted with security devices and emptied every night.

The pub became subject to a licence review after complaints of theft and violence at the venue.
