Leisure centres in the borough received an 'excellent' rating following a gruelling Sport England assessment.

The Fusion Lifestyle sports and community development team in Hounslow were delighted with the achievement which came after they endured an intensive two-day improvement programme known as Quest.

The team reached the challenging Quest Plus status  gained by the very best sports development teams in the UK.

Councillor Sachin Gupta, cabinet member for public health and leisure, said: “The sports and community development team’s excellent Quest rating shows the value that the council’s partnership with Fusion can bring in promoting health and fitness to the local community.”

Fusion, a registered charity in the sports and leisure industry, and works in partnership with Hounslow council to manage its six leisure centres.

Dan Reynolds, head of sports and community development for Fusion Lifestyle, added: “This is a fantastic result for our sports and community development service and demonstrates the commitment and hard work from the team and our partners.

"Fusion has implemented a number of new processes and developed strong partnerships across the whole of our business, ensuring the continuous improvement of our sports development offer in the communities we deliver to”.

Quest’s operations director, Caroline Constantine, said: “By meeting Quest’s high standards for excellent sports development teams, Fusion Lifestyle’s Hounslow team has shown its commitment to providing quality service to its community."
