Over the years there has been hard campaigning and support from Danemead Residents' Association, Harrow and Northolt Mandeville councillors to have the 100-year-old Pett's Hill Bridge replaced to reduce congestion.

With meticulous planning from the London Boroughs of Harrow and Ealing Network Rail and Transport for London it came to fruition over the festive season.

Within 60 hours the 100-year-old bridge was replaced with a new one, rail track was re-laid and the first train passed over the new bridge. A big thank you to the drivers who had brought this bridge in sections safely from

Ireland via Liverpool down to Northolt on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We residents in Northolt have been given the best start to 2009 - our long awaited bridge - and raise our glasses to the bridge and all those people who have made this possible.
