Your community needs YOU!

In an echo of the famous Earl Kitchener recruiting poster, above , borough folk are being asked for their First World War memorabilia.

As part of Hillingdon Council's work commemorating 100 years since the start of the conflict, its local historians are looking for anyone with letters, photographs, diaries or objects relating to the time, to be used in an exhibition.

Whether it relates to soldiers away fighting, people left at home, women’s war work or the difficulties faced by families coping while the men were away, the curators are trying to show every aspect of how the war affected the lives of Hillingdon’s people.

They are particularly keen to show the contribution made by troops from the Commonwealth.
