A violent yob who was captured on CCTV fracturing a man's skull before striding away 'punching the air' will serve no extra jail time for the assault.

Kevin Holt, of Pinewood Avenue, Feltham, was handed a two-year sentence at Isleworth Crown Court for putting his victim, Andrew Gard, in intensive care with a brutal blow to the back of his head.

But the 22-year-old must serve just 12 months of the sentence which will be over in June before he is eligible to be released for a previous offence.

The video of the attack in Bedfont Lane on November 9, viewed in court on Friday, showed a 'tipsy' Mr Gard approaching two youths on bikes as he made his way home to Feltham following a night out in Richmond.

He was seen with his arm round one of the youths before the atmosphere changed and Holt approached Mr Gard from behind, punching him in the back on the head and flooring him.

Holt walked off but others called the emergency services and Mr Gard - who had a fit -  was taken to West Middlesex University Hospital where he was admitted following a CT scan. Despite a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain Mr Gard eventually made a full recovery.

When Holt hit Mr Gard he was 'on licence' from a sentence for causing actual bodily harm, and was promptly recalled to prison where he is not due for release until September next year.
