Crowds of up to 12,000 are expected for the return of Under One Sky, Harrow's largest annual community festival.

People from all faiths and back-grounds will descend in their droves to Kodak Sports Ground in Harrow View, Harrow, on Sunday (29), between noon and 8pm.

The eight-hour open air spectacular, which began in 2004, will feature a parade, fashion shows, a funfair, stalls, a chill-out zone, a music stage, and bands and dance displays.

The organisers have laid on five themed zones - dance, enterprise, sports, community and youth - crammed with activities and information stands, while Harrow Council's children's services department and Harrow Arts Centre will both host marquees.

Headlining the main stage is R'n'B star Jay Sean, who follows a eclectic mix of Brazilian, Irish, Indian, soul and hip hop performances. The opening act are musicians from Harrow's schools.

Under One Sky also boasts Gig In The Park, a festival-within-a-festival promoting an anti-youth crime message.

It has been organised by a team of five pupils from Nower Hill High School in George V Avenue, Pinner, and appears for the second year between 3-7pm with local musicians on the bill.

Councillor Chris Mote, portfolio holder for community and cultural services, said: "Under One Sky has been a year in the planning and involved lots of joint work with the local community.

"The event is set to be a huge success which celebrates the cultural diversity of Harrow.

"I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and I hope residents of all ages come and enjoy what is sure to be a special and memorable day."

Entry to Under One Sky costs £3 for adults, £1 for children aged 10-16 and is free for anyone under 10 who is accompanied by an adult.
