'What is this magical yellow light shining in the sky?' we all asked ourselves this morning, as the sun, for the first time in almost a century*, peeked its head from out behind the clouds.

It looks as thought the sunny spells will continue into Saturday across the borough so what better way to spend the weekend other than a sunny walk in Ruislip Lido in Reservoir Road.

That is exactly what Carewatch Care Services are doing for the Motor Neurone Disease Association on Saturday morning.

For sporty couples - or friends - who would prefer a round of golf at one of the borough's courses, book in quick as a two-for-one offer ends on Sunday.

Hillingdon Council offers golfers two-for-one on full price adult and junior green fees at Haste Hill, Ruislip and Uxbridge golf courses.

Bookings must be made, quoting the word: ‘Valentines’. See: www.hillingdon.gov.uk/golf

And if you fancy checking out some local talent, the council's hunt for the best of the borough's performers is on at The Compass Theatre in Ickenham on Sunday.

Hillingdon's Hidden Talent starts at 3pm with previous winners who have gone on to perform on The X Factor, The Voice and at top UK venues including the O2 Arena.

There are still a few tickets left for a barn dance in Harefield tomorrow night.

Held in St Mary's Church Hall in High Street, the night promises to be jam packed with dancing, accordion music, prizes and a hot supper. Come dressed in your best cowboy (or cowgirl) get up.

Bring your own drink. The night starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from Sandra on 01895 825419.
