On behalf of the Yiewsley and West Drayton Town Centre Action Group, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all the volunteers who took part in the Father Christmas Narrowboat event [Santa sails into Yiewsley, Gazette, December 3].
It was quite memorable to see the lit narrowboat slowly approaching Yiewsley canal bridge and the expectation on the faces of the youngsters.
After disembarking, Father Christmas, followed by everyone who saw him arrive, proceeded to the piazza area outside Dades Superstore where he proceeded to hand out chocolate oranges and sweets.
Despite some disappointment by latecomers, who thought the time was 5pm as printed in the Gazette instead of 4pm, Father Christmas delayed his departure to ensure he saw all the youngsters.
Latecomers escorted Father Christmas back to the boat.
It was a memorable day all round and we would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas. D. ADELE DAVIES,
secretary, Y and WDTCAG, by email.
