WE OFTEN complain about out of town supermarkets taking trade away from our local shopping centres.
But now small shop owning landlords are raising rents on these struggling businesses - with the result another shop is closing in Eastcote.
The case in point is the family greengrocer's in Eastcote, fresh fruit and veg and a cheery smile and chat with every visit is thrown in for free. Transport for London (TfL) is the culprit landlord.
TfL would rather have empty premises - therefore no rent - than keep rents reasonable and give employment to shopkeepers and convenience for customers.
