A teenager who preyed on two girls during a party at his Bedfont home before sexually assaulting them has been jailed for three years.

Paul Hibbert, of Nine Elms Avenue, was just 17 when he carried out the two separate attacks on the 16-year-olds on August 7, 2007.

The first girl was targeted after she used an upstairs toilet and came out to find Hibbert waiting for her.

They began kissing consensuallybut Hibbert then carried her into his bedroom and sexually assaulted her as their friends laughed and drank downstairs.

A second girl was later assaulted in the same room.

Det Insp Jeff Minns, of Hounslow CID, said: "There is a huge difference between consensual and non-consensual contact and in this case there's no doubt that this line was clearly crossed.

"Both the victims were very distressed and they will have to live with the affects of that night for manyyears."

After the party both girls reported the details of their ordeals to officers at the Sapphire Unit, who investigate accusations of rape and sexual assault.

Hibbert, who is now aged 19, was found guilty by a jury of committing sexual assault by penetration on the first girl at a trial at Isleworth Court on May 28 this year.

And on Thursday last week he pleaded guilty to the same charge on the second victim. He was given three-year sentences for each assault, to be served concurrently, and required to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.

DI Minns described both the girls as 'courageous' for coming forward and for facing their attacker in court.

He added: "Police always take these matters seriously. The Sapphire Unit did an excellent job in bringing this case to court and securing a conviction."
