THE 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation may have come and gone, but that did not stop folk in Hayes celebrating the date with two parties.

Age UK Hillingdon laid on afternoon teas, including scones, trifle and sandwiches, for about 30 of its members at Townfield Community Centre.

It was decorated with bunting for the two days, and wartime music and vintage china helped to generate a traditional atmosphere.

The cost of the events was offset by funding from Hillingdon Council of more than £2,000.
